Claybon Lea Memorial Library
The library of Mount Calvary Baptist Church made its debut in 1991. It began as a vision of our founding Pastor, Claybon Lea, Sr. He believed that people should know their history. He believed that knowledge is power. A favorite scripture he often quoted was “my people are destroyed for a lack of knowledge”, Hosea 4:6 (KJV). He envisioned a place where people of African descent can frequent and learn about the rich historical legacy and contributions made by our ancestors
After his homegoing, the library was relocated to the church’s new interim site on Enterprise Drive and named Claybon Lea Memorial Library. A re-dedication service took place in November 2007.
The Library staff is ready to serve and assist you in locating books from the 2,500 titles on file, begging to enlighten and broaden your mind’s perspective. Many books have been donated and are being added to our library using state of the art computer software. All library books and materials can be checked out for 21 days.
